Friday Schedule
We will be packing up early and getting on the road between 10:30 and 11:00 tomorrow morning, which should put us back at MBMA between 1:30 - 2:30.
We will post to this blog when we pass through Temecula, which is about 45 minutes from MBMA, to give you a better estimate of our arrival time.
You are welcome to pick up your child as soon as we arrive.

A Final Day Hike to Horse Meadows
The entire group hiked through the snow to Horse Meadows, delighting in sun and snow.
We'll have a campfire with songs and skits for our final evening here at High Trails. The kids were all giggles at dinner, planning away for their fireside performance.

Sunshine & Snow on Our Last Day at Camp
There's a tremendous excitement around camp this morning, waking to bright blue skies and a white cover over camp.
With the snow falling last night, we went inside for a great lesson on snakes. The camp has a collection of snakes from around the Americas that they share, after a lecture of sorts.
And although the excitement of yesterday was about the snow, we did get a full morning of lessons with the woods as our classroom. Our bird lesson began with the kids all finding a spot to sit alone and listen and look: some sketched what they saw, some took notes or wrote poems. Then, from the starting point watching and listening, the group would sit in a circle and learn about the adaptations birds make to find a niche in our surroundings.
Our plan for our last full day here at camp is to hike up to Horse Meadows, a beautiful clearing about 2 miles up the trail. The sun is shining bright and warming us quickly, so it should be a great day.

It's SNOWING!!!
The snow waited until about 3:00 to start, but it's snowing!
Already an inch on the ground. And it's still coming down!

Wednesday Morning at Camp
We're still dry here at camp, but it's chilly and a very moody fog has settled in.
Line dancing was a hoot last night. Unfortunately the clouds rolled in so our astronomy lesson was full of stories of Greek gods but no stars.
Between breakfast this morning and our switch to field groups, the kids get to spend some time around the cabins.
On a cold morning, a trip to the showers includes bundling up...
We caught the 5th grade boys in the middle of a 'Tribes' activity here. This activity entailed sharing tales of injuries: skateboard wounds, campfire accidents, playground falls and more...
We have lessons on bird life, water cycles and environmental awareness planned for the day. As long as it stays dry, we'll keep to our schedule. If we get rain, we'll cover up with rain gear and be in and out of the cabins throughout the day.
